Completed arrangements are being announced for Homer “Sambo” McGowan, 67, of Fulton, who died Feb. 8, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Services will be noon Saturday at Rawls Funeral Home in South Fulton, with burial following in East View Cemetery in Union City. The Rev. George Turk will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Jackson, Ricky Jackson, Jewel Martin, Tony Ratliff, Henry Minor and Larry McKinney.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
He was born Jan. 16, 1943, in South Fulton, son of Martha Ella Johnson of Fulton and the late Archie McGowan. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a city dispatcher.
He is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie Gray of Paducah, Ky.; his son, Kevin Gray of Mayfield, Ky.; his sister, Jennifer Howard of Minneapolis; three uncles, Herbert McGowan of Alabama, Leon McGowan of California and Andrew McGowan of Rockford, Ill.; his aunt, Janie Carter of Rockford; and four grandchildren.
