|The winter weather has claimed quite a few more sports-related casualties. |
All three basketball twinbills involving local teams tonight have been wiped from the slate.
Obion Central’s District 13AA twinbill with Ripley is the only of tonight’s doubleheaders that definitely will be made up.
OC will host Ripley on Saturday at 6 p.m.
That means Central will have to play on three consecutive nights with a previously-scheduled make-up date at Westview on Thursday and a Friday doubleheader with Dyersburg.
Union City’s home date with Dyer County tonight has been postponed with the possibility of a make-up date looming.
South Fulton’s road game at Fulton City also has a similar story. It has been postponed, but could be rescheduled.
Monday’s high school basketball twinbill between SF and Gleason was also canceled due to the threat of winter weather.
It will not be made up.
Meanwhile, TMSAA West Sectional action has been put on hold indefinitely at Lake County High School.
Tournament organizers postponed Monday evening’s games and the plan was to push all play back one day.
However, tonight’s action has also been wiped off the slate due to the overnight snow accumulation.
Officials at LC said they still plan to finish the tournament with championship night on Saturday evening, but the bracket will undergo a facelift in order for that to happen.
The new bracket has yet to be released by Lake County school officials.
