The Lady Eagles and SF boys both have a ticket punched to the TMSAA West Sectional and the Area 5 finals after Wednesday’s semifinal action at Martin.
Black Oak held off a late charge by Paris Inman to claim a 37-34 victory.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils left little doubt as to who was the better team in a 57-25 shellacking of Trenton.
In other action at the Area 5 Tournament, the Hillcrest girls were eliminated from postseason contention after a 43-34 defeat to Martin.
The Lady Eagles (17-0) play the host Lady Panthers at 6 in the girls’ title game tonight.
The Red Devils play defending West Sectional and Area 5 chmpion Paris Inman in this evening’s nightcap.
BO 37, Paris Inman 34
Darcey Jones propelled BO offensively with 17 points, while Dianna Flippen finished with a double-double (11 points and 14 rebounds).
Ashlynn Hamm was also key with seven boards.
Martin 43, Hillcrest 34
The Lady Cougars (10-6) stayed close for three quarters, but the Lady Panthers bested H’crest 14-7 in the fourth period to claim the nine-point triumph.
Ashlyn Runions led Hillcrest with 15 points, while Macey McKenzie also finished in double digits with 10.
SF 57, Trenton 25
Jacoby Garmon was the high-point man for SF with 13 points and six rebounds, while Kyle Watkins and Ryan Moore tacked on 12 and 10, respectively.
Harrison Hawks also stood out for the Devils with eight points, six steals and five assists.
