James Stephen “Steve” Blackley, 55, of Obion died Feb. 2, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

A memorial service is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with Dan Huggins officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Tennessee Children’s Home, P.O. Box 10,  Springhill, TN 37174.

He was born in Union City Aug. 20, 1954, son of the late Billy Wilson and Sue (Summers) Blackley. He was a civil engineer employed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of Exchange Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters, Daphne York of Martin, Stephanie Garrett of Dyersburg and Rebekah Carman of Union City; his brother, Daryl Wilson Blackley of Obion; four grandchildren, Trevor York and Olivia York of Martin, Allyson Garrett of Dyersburg and Libby Carman of Union City; and his step-grandmother, Mary Blackley of Obion.
