|Martin Police investigators were searching for answers concerning the Wednesday, Jan. 20 break-in at a local church. According to an incident report, the department was called to the scene at the Martin Church of Christ after the custodian of the building noticed a window was broken and blinds were damaged on Thursday, Jan. 21. |
The MPD officer cited in the report he noticed a door handle leading into the office was damaged and had red residue consistent with a brick on the door.
A black book which contained church records and approximately $140 was taken from the church.
After conducting an interview with 39-year-old Keith Stafford of Dresden on Tuesday, Stafford admitted to investigators he had unlawfully entered the Martin church. MPD Inv. Robbie Hatler spoke with Stafford while he was already incarcerated at the Weakley County Detention Center. Warrants against Stafford were filed by the department earlier this week for the burlgary, vandalism and theft of property at the Martin Church of Christ.
