Jury trial in Illinois continued to May
A former Sharon man’s DUI case has been continued once again in Illinois. Robert Rowe, 44, faces one felony count of aggravated DUI after a motor vehicle accident in Iroquois County, Illinois on Labor Day weekend in 2008 resulted in the death of his stepson, 18-year-old Justin Scott Sanders of Sharon.
Sanders was a passenger in Rowe’s vehicle when his stepfather allegedly crossed the center line on U.S. Route 24 in Illinois and struck a tractor-trailer head-on.
He is accused of driving under the influence.
Rowe’s case was set to be heard by a jury Monday, Feb. 8 in Iroquois County. His jury trial has been reset to May 3 in Illinois.
Rowe is expected to appear in court on March 30 for a pre-trial hearing.
He was initially ordered to pay a $50,000 bond after his arrest in Illinois. The bond was reduced to $5,000 on Sept. 11, 2008.
Rowe is currently free on bond.
