Opal Ladd, 98, of Newbern, mother of Louise Miller of Union City, died Jan. 24, 2010, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with the Rev. Eddie Mallonee and Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Newbern’s Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Charles Funderburk, Mike Ladd, Jeff Ladd, Bruce Culver, Craig McManus and Terry Meyers.
Honorary pallbearers will be those who had served as sitters for Mrs. Ladd.
She was born Sept. 22, 1911, in Dyer County, daughter of the late Will and Cara Jane (McCool) Alsup. She was the widow of William Alfred Ladd and was a homemaker.
Survivors also include two other daughters, Betty Culver of Newbern and Helen Ferraro of Racine, Wis.; her son, Charles Ladd of Newbern; two sisters, Mable Rodgers of Cahokia, Ill., and Ruby Johnson of Hazelwood, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Louis Ladd; and nine brothers and sisters.
