Union City police are investigating two more weekend incidents in which counterfeit $100 bills were passed at local businesses.
The most recent incidents occurred at Auto Zone at 1409 South First St. and Dollar Tree at 1401 West Reelfoot Ave., according to Union City Police Department reports.
Police were first summoned about 11 a.m. Saturday to Auto Zone, where store officials told police they had received a suspicious-looking $100 bill. When the bill was marked with a special counterfeit pen, it did not indicate the bill was counterfeit, police reported.
About 3:25 p.m. Saturday, police were called to Dollar Tree, where the store manager reported someone had passed a counterfeit $100 bill at one of the registers. The bill also passed a pen test like the bill at Auto Zone, according to the report.
