Weakley County authorities are investigating a home invasion involving three armed men in the Mount Pelia community near the Weakley County-Obion County line. The Weakley County Sheriff’s Department responded Tuesday to the 2400 block of Mount Pelia Road after a 911 call was made at 8:45 p.m. to report an alleged home invasion robbery with shots fired. Sheriff’s investigator Randall McGowan reported three white men armed with either a rifle or shotgun and pistols forced open a door and demanded cash and narcotics from the home owner, then fled the area in what is believed to be a Ford Windstar or Aerostar van. The vehicle was possibly green. Neighbors had also called the sheriff’s department to report hearing gunshots in the area. McGowan said the shots are believed to have been fired after the robbers left the house. The home owner was not injured. The case remains under investigation today. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department at (731) 364-5454. Published in The Messenger 1.20.10
