Georgia Marie “Mama Dot” (Byrd) Bunch, 84, of Samburg died Jan. 20, 2010, at her residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Samburg Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. George Hutchison and J.T. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the church.
The family requests memorials be sent to Samburg Assembly of God Church.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Hayes Bunch, Trey Bunch and Zachary Bunch; and Corey Earley, Shaw Speed, Opie Wynne and Oscar Wynne.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Adam Lyle, Eric Bunch and Drew Bunch; and her granddaughters, Candy Earley, Jacenta Speed, Honey Whitson, Holly Gray, Ginger Jones, Ashley Russell and Callie Bunch.
She was born June 11, 1925, in Lexington, Miss., daughter of the late Oakley Molton and Clara (Jordan) Byrd. She married George D. Bunch Dec. 24, 1948. He died Aug. 5, 1999. She was the longtime owner/operator of the Samburg Motel and Bunch’s Grocery in Samburg. She was a member of Samburg Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by two sons, George Bunch Jr. and his wife, Linda, and Tim Bunch, all of Samburg; her daughter, Jennifer Lyle and her husband, Allen, of Samburg; another daughter-in-law, Linda Bunch of Union City; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Wynne and Alice Rainey, both of Lexington, Miss., Freddie Ann Farmer of West Mississippi and Sherry McClellan of Madison, Miss.; and two brothers, Sam Byrd of Cleveland, Miss, and Joe Byrd of Samburg.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Bunch and Elmer “Andy” Bunch; three brothers, Tucker Byrd, Bob Byrd and Tony Byrd; and a sister, Geneva Byrd.
