A Troy truck driver sustained possibly injury when a gravel truck overturned Tuesday morning in the 2200 block of Brevard Road in Union City. Gary D. Tittle, 37, of 2046 Marshall Kirk Road, Troy, was taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City following a crash that occurred about 7:35 a.m. on Brevard Road, just east of Lakeview Drive, according to a Union City Police Department report released today. He was driving a 2007 Kenworth rig owned by Coffey Construction Company of Hickman, Ky. Tittle told police he was eastbound on Brevard Road and a vehicle had crossed into his lane. He said while trying to avoid the vehicle, the right side tires of the truck dropped off the shoulder and traveled about 150 feet on the shoulder before coming back onto the roadway and overturning on its right side, spilling its load of gravel onto Brevard Road. The vehicle came to final rest with the bed of truck in the westbound lane and the cab partially off on the north shoulder, according to the report. The driver was helped out of the rig by other authorities on the scene before the reporting police officer arrived and was being treated by ambulance personnel. Police reported Tittle was complaining of back pain at the time. During the crash, the truck also struck a mailbox and broke asphalt at the culvert of the drive at 3405 Brevard Road, police reported.
