Devilettes get league win in last try
It was better late than never for the South Fulton girls.
The Devilettes claimed their first Obion County School System victory of the season on Thursday with a 24-23 edging of Lake Road in the regular season finale for the two teams.
In the evening’s nightcap, the SF boys extracted a measure of revenge with a 47-34 triumph over LR.
Other action on Thursday evening had Hillcrest sweeping Ridgemont with the girls a 38-26 victor and the boys claiming a 29-25 victory.
All four of the teams that played on Thursday now look forward to the Obion County School System Tournament, though; R’mont does have a makeup twinbill on Tuesday with Paris Inman.
The bracket for the OCSS event, which begins next Thursday, was finalized this morning during a meeting at Obion Central.
On Jan. 21, the fourth-seeded R’mont girls battle No. 5 South Fulton at 6 p.m. Then, the No. 4 Hillcrest and fifth seed Black Oak boys (0-13) will take to the court in that evening’s nightcap.
The OCSS Tournament has a full slate on Jan. 23 with four games comprising the semifinal round.
The girls’ draw has second-seeded Hillcrest against No. 3 Lake Road at 4 p.m., while top seed Black Oak (13-0) battles the Ridgemont-SF winner at 6.
On the boys’ side, No. 2 seed LR and third-ranked R’mont meet at 5:15, while undefeated two-time champion South Fulton awaits the BO-H’crest victor in the evening’s last game — set to start at 7:15.
The event’s championship round is scheduled for Jan. 25 with the girls’ title game at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
