Eagle festival scheduled at Reelfoot

Picture this: a wintry, fun-filled, family weekend at Reelfoot Lake.
The fun will include tours to view majestic bald eagles nesting, soaring and locking talons in courtship — since the local lake features one of the largest populations of American Bald Eagles outside of Alaska.
The 6th Annual Reelfoot Lake Eagle Festival will be staged Feb. 5-7 at Reelfoot Lake State Park’s Visitors Center/Ellington Hall on Highway 22 at the lake’s Blue Bank area near Tiptonville.
Festivities for all ages during the three-day event will include the Little Rock (Ark.) Zoo’s live birds of prey program on Saturday night; guided tours by either bus or van for a moderate charge to view eagles and waterfowl; art and photography contests; both traditional paper and GPS scavenger hunts; vendors; a silent auction; and story telling with balloon hats and an eagle mascot, who will also be available for photos.
Reservations are required for the bus or van tours. For tour reservations, call (731) 253-9652.
Free tote bags will be given to the first 100 families to register for the festival.
More information about the festival may be found online at www.reelfoottourism.com. For more information or for lodging information, call (731) 253-2007.
