(Jackson, TN ) Casey Jones Village is going to the dogs (and that’s a good thing!) on Saturday, September 19th with a new event for Jackson…Woofstock ’09 – A Rally to Rescue. This animal rescue festival is sponsored by Companion Pet Rescue and Loving Paws. It is going to be a fun family and pet-friendly event with live music, vendors, pet parade, drawings and demonstrations from 10 am to 5 pm. The Elephant Sanctuary will also have a representative (not an elephant) from Hohenwald, Tennessee to tell more about their important rescue work as well as a horse rescue group and exotic animal rescue group. Woofstock event coordinator Elizabeth Dunn is available for media interviews. Email villagepr@gmail.com to schedule.

The one day outdoor event will feature festivities for the whole family from 10 am to 5 pm including live music throughout the day, micro chipping, a pet parade, a K-9 demonstration, pet contests, vendors, concessions, drawings and more. Admission at the gate is only $1.00 per person at the Casey Jones Village Amphitheatre with donations greatly appreciated.

The purpose of Woofstock is to increase community awareness and educate the public of the need for spay/neuter, rabies vaccinations as well as the increasing concern of dogs and cats needing to be rescued as well as animal rescue in general. Throughout the day there will be various opportunities for people to participate in raising money for spaying/neutering animals, vet fees, heartworm treatments and, of course, food and housing for rescue pets.

Anyone interested in a booth rental with anything animal and pet related can contact event coordinator Elizabeth Dunn with Companion Pet Rescue at 731-422-6935 or email woofstockrally@yahoo.com. Booth rental is only $25.00.

So pack up your pets and come to Casey Jones Village for Woofstock on Saturday, September 19th…leashed pets are more than welcome.
