Drug-related charges were placed against a local man following a traffic stop Saturday evening in Union City.
Terry Everett Calhoun, 49, of 410 West Jackson St., Union City, was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (hydrocodone) and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (lorazepam) at 6:29 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Greenwood Street, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported Calhoun was initially stopped for alleged seat belt and tail light violations.
After he signed the citations and after police allegedly received conflicting stories from the driver and his passenger, police asked for consent to search the vehicle.
During the search, police located under the front seat a glasses case that contained five hydrocodone pills in a clear plastic bag and two lorazepam pills in a different bag, according to the police report.
Calhoun was charged due to allegedly admitting he had no prescription for either drug, police reported.
