|The visiting Obion County Central Rebel golfers came out on top in a tri-match with the Westview Chargers and the Greenfield Yellowjackets last Tuesday at Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon. |
The Rebs carded a team score of 189 to better Westview’s 199. Greenfield golfers only participated as individuals without enough playing the links to compose a team score.
OC’s Ethan Rudd was the medalist for the afternoon with a 42 followed by Charger Austin Smith’s 45. Westview’s Ashton Hughey and Rebel John Green both carded a 46. Greenfield’s Matt Keeling had the best afternoon for the Jackets with a 52.
“Austin’s not on his game yet. I expect him to come out of this slump. Ashton’s been shooting decent,” WHS golf coach Chad Johnson said.
Other WHS golfers and their scores included Blake Kerley’s 53 and Miles Gearin’s 55.
Yellowjacket Tony Robinson carded a 55 and Hunter Stout finished with a 57.
Obion County’s other participants were Garrett Booth (50) and Trevor Riley (51).
On Thursday, the Chargers were out-dueled by the Dyersburg Trojans, 167-191.
Dyersburg’s Kirk Hoggett and Kyle Paschall both finished with the low scores of the day at 41. Smith was again the low man for WHS with a 45, while Hughey was a stroke back at 46.
Three Chargers — Gearin, Kerley and Ross Thompson — all carded a 50 on the day.
