Laverne Cooper, 81, of Kenton died Sept. 4, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services were set for today at 11 a.m. at Kenton First Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Pratt was to officiate, assisted by the Rev. Wayne Perkins, and burial was to follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton.
The family requests memorials be made to Kenton First Baptist Church.
Leitherland Funeral Home in Rutherford was in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 31, 1927, daughter of the late Vernon C. and Myrtle (West) Hanks. She was the widow of William Ernest Cooper.
A homemaker, she was a member of Kenton First Baptist Church, where she was a devout Sunday school teacher for 64 years.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda Collins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mary E. and Tarry Warren of Grand Rapids, Mich., RuthAnn and Larry Leeper of Wheatfield, Ind., and Lisa and Bob Blair of Valparaiso, Ind.; six grandchildren, Michelle Collins, Mike Warren, Jim Warren, Rachel Warren, Matthew Miller and Sarah Leeper; three great-grandchildren, Cooper Warren, Whit Warren and Eliana Warren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Inez and Billy Jack Edmiston of Greenville, Miss., and Joyce and Finley Penney of Kenton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Gordon.
