A Fulton man was arrested on burglary charges early Friday after police allegedly observed him running from Evans Drug Store in downtown Fulton.
David Wayne Brown, 29, was taken into custody after police officers on patrol observed him shortly after 1 a.m., according to a Fulton Police Department press release.
After a foot pursuit through the downtown business area, he was apprehended and a field investigation began. Officers believe the suspect was attempting to gain entry into the drug store based on fresh pry marks, police reported. He allegedly had a ski mask, pry bar and tin snips and was wearing gloves.
Brown was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal attempt burglary, possession of burglary tools and first-degree fleeing/evading police.
As a result of information gained in a subsequent interview by a police detective, Brown was also charged in an Aug. 5 burglary at Evans Drug Store in which numerous prescription medications were stolen. He was charged with third-degree burglary and theft of a controlled substance.
Brown was processed and lodged in the Fulton County (Ky.) Detention Center awaiting bond.
The investigation into other burglaries is continuing, police said.
