MEMPHIS (AP) — Memphis and Shelby County school and health officials hope to inoculate tens of thousands of people against swine flu.
At a news conference Wednesday, county health officer Dr. Kenneth S. Robinson said the city, county and Roman Catholic schools plan to give shots to all of their students, staff, family members and any adults who come in.
The vaccine is still being developed and isn’t expected to be available until October or November.
The Commercial Appeal reported the three systems have about 163,000 students and the school vaccination program could reach one-third of the local population, if families take part.
