The University of Tennessee president’s annual campus tour will begin Wednesday in Memphis, with a stop scheduled for Sept. 29 at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Throughout the month, Interim UT President Jan Simek and members of his staff will spend a day at each of the UT System’s campuses.
In addition, there will be a Nashville stop to meet with employees based in Middle Tennessee and Simek will visit with Institute for Public Ser-vice employees while they are meeting in Norris.
The complete schedule for the campus tour includes: Wednesday, Memphis, UT Health Science Center; Sept. 9, Norris, Institute for Public Service meeting; Sept. 10, Nashville, including employees from UT Extension, UT AgResearch, UT Knoxville College of Social Work, UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy and Institute for Public Service; Sept. 14, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; Sept. 15, Knoxville, Institute of Agriculture; Sept. 18, Tullahoma, Space Institute; Sept. 29, UT Martin; and Oct. 6, University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
During the visits, Simek will meet with campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, public officials and community leaders.
“In these tough economic times, it is important to reassure everyone that the university is continuing to move forward and that improving our quality remains the paramount goal,” Simek said.
The tour provides the campuses an opportunity to highlight their achievements and goals. Employees also have a chance to voice their concerns and ask questions in a face-to-face setting.
There are two new features with this year’s tour — a special Web site and Twitter.
The public can follow the tour with updates from each stop by visiting http://www.tennessee.edu/campustour/ or by following Simek on Twitter at http://twitter.com/utpresident.
