With the help of DNA evidence recovered from Sunday’s scene, a 35-year-old Gleason man has been taken into custody by local authorities for his alleged connection with a recent sex assault of a University of Tennessee at Martin student.
Bruce A. Tuck was taken into custody around 5:15 Wednesday afternoon at his parents’ home in Gleason after investigators with the Martin Police Department, Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Gleason Police Department, the Memphis Metro Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant of the property and seized evidence.
Tuck is facing one count of aggravated rape and theft over $1,000. At a press conference held this morning at the MPD, Chief David Moore confirmed Tuck was being held in the Weakley County Detention Center.
Moore explained authorities connected Tuck to a home invasion and rape at Raven Street in Martin Sunday morning.
According to the affidavit, Tuck entered the residence by breaking the back door of the home. He encountered three people at the home where he allegedly bound all of the victims.
According to the affidavit, Tuck licked the breast of one of the victims before vaginally and anally assaulting a third victim at the home.
He was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun, Moore said.
Authorities are working right now to connect Tuck to three sexual assaults in Martin and two incidents in Cordova. Each of the sex assault victims described the suspect as having a large belly, wearing a mask and brandishing a black handgun
27th Judicial District Attorney General Tommy Thomas said the agencies could not comment about additional evidence, but investigators were seen bagging evidence at Tuck’s residence in Gleason on Wednesday.
During the arrest, Tuck was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital after he claimed to have chest pains.
Weakley County Sheriff Mike Wilson confirmed Tuck was in custody at the WCDC and an arraignment was scheduled for 1 p.m. today.
Each of the sex assault victims described the suspect as having a large belly, wearing a mask and brandishing a black handgun.
