In response to numerous requests, the deadline for the Dottie West Music Fest Amateur Talent Contest has been extended to Saturday, September 19, 2009.

In announcing the extension, Talent Coordinator Thomas B. Vaughn said “A lot of people have been on vacation and students are just getting back to school, so we decided to give them and others a little more time to enter the contest. Aspiring amateur singers, songwriters and musicians of all musical genres are welcome to enter the contest. Contestants may perform original or cover songs”.

“The contest rules are pretty simple. First, contestants must compete for a coveted slot among the top 20 entrants who will qualify to perform in the semi-finals at the

2009 Dottie West Music Fest. Second, the Top Five winners will advance to the Finals, which will be held later the same day”, Vaughn explained.

The Top Three winners in the Finals will receive cash prizes of $200 for First Place, $150 for Second Place, and $100 for Third Place, plus certificates and other Dottie West Music Fest Memorabilia. The First Place winner will also be invited to perform on Jacky White s award-winning “Sucarnochee Revue”, which airs on radio stations around the nation and in Australia.

The amateur talent contest is open to solo, duo, and band/group categories.
