KSP to hold CPA

Kentucky State Police Post One — which includes Fulton County, Ky. — is accepting applications for the 2009 KSP Citizens Police Academy.
The 10-week academy is slated to begin Oct. 6 and conclude Dec. 16. Students will meet Tuesdays from 6-8:30 p.m. and will learn about the many facets of the KSP, including patrol, criminal investigations and drug investigations. Students will also get to take part in simulated traffic stops and evidence collection.
The academy’s first week will be held at the KSP post on Highway 45 in Hickory. The following nine weeks of the academy will be held at the Graves County Board of Education on KY 121 in Mayfield.
Applications may be obtained by contacting KSP Post One at (270) 856-3721. Applications may also be obtained by visiting http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/posts/post1.htm. Anyone 18 years of age living within the KSP’s Post One district is welcome to apply, a spokesman said. There is no cost to attend.
Once completed, applications should be mailed to Kentucky State Police, Attn.: Trooper Dean Patterson, 8366 State Route 45 North, Hickory, KY 42051. Applications may also be e-mailed to dean.patterson@ky.gov.
