Sam Fields, 52, of Tyler Texas, a former resident of Union City, died Aug. 15, 2009, at Hospice of East Texas Homeplace in Tyler after a brief illness.
Memorial services are planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel in Tyler, with the Rev. Alfred Darst officiating. Interment will follow at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
He was born Oct. 31, 1956, in Grenada, Miss., son of Laura Fields, who survives, and the late Willard Fields. He served in the U.S. Navy eight years and was stationed in Japan. He was a member of Masonic Far East Lodge No. 1 in Yokohama, Japan, and was the director of cardio-pulmonary services at the University of Texas Health Center in Tyler, where he had worked since 1984.
Survivors also include his wife, Pam Fields; two daughters, Samantha Fields and Sabrina Fields; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Pam Fields and John and Cindy Fields; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Nancy Redman; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Beth Redman; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
