Anna Moffatt (Simmons) Hampton, 81, of Woodland Mills died Aug. 15, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services were set for 11 a.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phillip Pinion officiating. Burial was to follow in Crystal’s Antioch Cemetery.
Her grandsons and grandsons-in-law were to be pallbearers.
The family requests that memorials be made to Antioch Union (Cumberland Presbyterian) Church, in care of Hazel Williams, 1305 Colonial Drive, Union City, TN 38261.
She was born Aug. 30, 1927, daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Clemmons) Simmons. She married William Thomas “Dub” Hampton Feb. 7, 1945. He died July 26, 2008.
She was a homemaker and had been an employee of the former The Colony Shop in Union City, where she was known for her beautiful floral arrangements. She was a member of Antioch Union (Cumberland Presbyterian) Church, where she sang in the choir, served as church pianist and was the congregation’s secretary for many years. She was also responsible for developing and implementing the church’s Vacation Bible School program.
She is survived by two daughters and her son-in-law, Kathy and Keith Forrester of Rives and Janis Owens of Grover, Mo.; her son and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Judy Hampton and Charlotte Hampton, all of Woodland Mills; seven grandchildren, Ken Owens of St. Louis, Todd Hampton of Martin, Paige Merwin of Murfreesboro, Wade Owens of Kula, Hawaii, Angie Partin of Woodland Mills, Andy Forrester of Rives and Will Hampton of Memphis; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Bill Hampton; and her sister, Martha (Simmons) Wheeler.
