Other than a few downed tree limbs, Union City and Obion County law enforcement agencies had no reports of any significant damage from Tuesday night’s storms that blew through the area.
Dark clouds rolled in from the north shortly after 7 p.m., causing concern among local residents who were involved in several of the National Night Out block parties under way throughout Union City. The approaching storm brought with it breezy conditions and considerably cooler temperatures for those enjoying the festivities.
Rain began to hit the area later in the evening and storm sirens blew about 10 p.m. as various weather watches and warnings were issued for Obion County and the surrounding counties. Obion County Emergency Management director Danny Jowers was in a meeting at press time today and was not available to comment.
Local rainfall was recorded at 1.75 inches Tuesday in Union City.
