The Messenger, July 10, 2009
Denise Chantel Lewis of 509 Melrose, Apt. 4 in Union City has been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
Union City Police Department officials performed a parole search on the residence on Tuesday after finding a key for the apartment on Durrell Littleton, who is on parole and was driving a vehicle in which the passenger was in possession of marijuana packaged for resale.
The reporting officer reported a young child answered the door and he heard a female’s voice from the rear bedroom say “Just a minute.” He said he then smelled a strong odor of air freshener, which made it appear she was trying to conceal other odors. The officer explained to Ms. Lewis he was there to conduct a search and the reason for that search. He reported he told her if there was marijuana in the residence it would be best for her to turn it over. She then produced a yellow plastic bag with marijuana in it and said it belonged to her sister, Tashay Ingram Lewis.
Tashay Lewis came to the police station about an hour after the visit and said the marijuana was not hers and she did not believe it belonged to her sister. She was then informed by police of her sister’s statement.
Police requested Tashay Lewis to tell her sister to come to the police station so she could be charged with the possession. Denise Lewis appeared at the police department on Thursday afternoon and was arrested for possession of marijuana.
