New York, NY- The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the National Park Service, is proud to announce the launch of new audio tours for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Museum. For a single fee, visitors have the opportunity to enhance their experience at both Islands with these self-guided tours produced by the award-winning Discovery Audio.
The Statue of Liberty Tour provides fascinating commentary about Lady Liberty, her history, and significance as a worldwide symbol of freedom. A 30-minute tour of Liberty Island explores outside the Statue, and an extended tour lets those with a Monument Pass fully experience the Statue Museum.

The Ellis Island Museum Tour allows visitors to tailor their visit based on interests and time. The 45-minute overview tour provides narration and first-hand immigrant accounts that invite visitors to vividly relive the immigrant experience as if they were the “new arrival.” Additional options give visitors the opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibits and galleries in more detail via in-depth interviews with historians, architects and archaeologists.

Both Statue and Ellis tours are now offered in nine languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, Mandarin, Arabic and Russian.

Tours are available for children and families for both attractions that provide a lively, interactive experience through the use of animal characters, which are available in English, Spanish, French, Italian and German.

“These wonderful new Audio Tours are as entertaining as they are informative and make a visit to the Statue and Ellis Island so much more engaging and fulfilling, especially for those with limited time” said Stephen A. Briganti, Foundation President and CEO. “And visitors will be pleased to know that a portion of the proceeds will help support the creation of the new Peopling of America® Center at Ellis Island.”

Audio tours are available at The Discovery Audio booths on both islands for an $8.00 rental fee for Adults, with a 10% discount for Seniors & Children under 12. Tours are free for the hearing impaired.
