Obion hosting June Fest celebration Saturday Posted: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 9:18 pm The time is right for celebrating in Tennessee and Obion plans to get a jump on the traditional Independence Day activities with their own home-grown fun. A full day of family-fun events is on tap at the annual June Fest celebration Saturday from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. The day will begin with breakfast at the Obion Community Center, where the menu will include country ham, bologna, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy, homemade jellies, coffee and juice for $6 for adults and $3 for children. The Obion Community Club is hosting the breakfast and funds raised will go to the community project in celebration of June Fest. At 9, the June Fest Antique Tractor and Engine Show will begin and at noon there will be an antique tractor “Parade of Power.” The fishing tournament is set for 1 p.m. in the pond behind the factory and the kids’ parade will kick off at 3. At 4, the celebration will focus on registration for the bicycle race and dog show and the salute to veterans is planned for 5. A gospel singing will begin at 6, followed by music from Renegade Band at 7 and cakewalk fun starting at the same time. The day will close with a drawing for $100 at 10. Gas card drawings for $50 in products are also planned at 7, 8 and 9 that evening.
