Deadline extended Posted: Monday, June 22, 2009 12:18 pm The Messenger, June 22, 2009 The deadline to register for Junior 4-H Camp to be held at the Ridley 4-H Center in Columbia has been extended until Friday. Children completing grades four through six this year are eligible to attend the camp July 6-10. It makes no difference if the children attend city schools, county schools or are home-schooled. Campers will enjoy a variety of experiences such as swimming, a talent show, crafts, ga-ga, night hiking, tye dying, T-shirt air brushing, basketball, volley ball, land Olympics, a cool water slide, ping pong, the wildlife cabin, archery, souvenir shop, wildlife adventures like creek stomping and participating in the Target S.M.A.R.T. program. Cost of camp is $223. This fee covers transportation, lodging, meals, time at the wildlife cabin and swimming pool, as well as a camp T-shirt. Additional money will be needed for snacks, crafts and souvenirs. Camping numbers were limited to 80 campers for the first time this year. There were still 18 positions available this morning. Applications may be picked up at the Obion County office of the University of Tennessee Extension Service, located at 302 South Third St. in Union City, or by calling 885-3742.
