FCE Workshop
FCE WORKSHOP — Obion County Family and Community Education Council president Jane Fisher and treasurer Susan Holzner, both members of the Crystal FCE Club, recently taught a chicken scratch workshop. The workshop was held prior to the recent Obion County FCE Fashion Revue. Chicken scratch is a type of embroidery that was popular in the 1980s and is making a revival. This technique is applied to gingham check fabric. The technique includes double cross stitches, straight stitches and woven circles created by weaving underneath the straight stitches to give a lacy effect. All participants learned the technique and were given instructions on how to complete their project. On hand for the workshop were (from left) Barbara Parker, Nita Simpson, Mary Louise Davis, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Holzner, Lily Holzner, Frances Allen and Mary Lois Owens.
