Wildlife Judging Posted: Tuesday, June 9, 2009 8:01 pm WILDLIFE JUDGING — Obion County junior high 4-Hers recently participated in the Western Region 4-H Wildlife Judging contest. Teams from West Tennessee gathered at Parker’s Crossroads. During the contest, 4-Hers worked to identify wildlife, identify wildlife management practices unique to individual species and prescribe on-site wildlife management recommendations. The wildlife project is designed to teach 4-H youth about the fundamentals of wildlife science and management. Natural resources management is learned through participation in the event and other associated programs. Additional benefits come from the development of leadership capabilities and meeting other young people and professionals. The junior high team included (from left) Jodianna Jacobs, Nancy Davis and Logan Stephens. All are Ridgemont Elementary School students. Published in The Messenger 6.9.09 |
