Jaxx, National Guard To Celebrate Flag Day | | Posted: Thursday, June 4, 2009 12:50 pm
| “The Great American Celebration” will take place Saturday, June 6, at Pringles Park in Jackson when the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx face the Huntsville Stars in an evening of baseball. A flag ceremony at 6:30 p.m. will precede the game. This third annual “Great American Celebration” commemorates Flag Day and celebrates “What’s Good About America.” The patriotic program is being sponsored by Jackson’s Elks Lodge 192. In keeping with the Elks’ tradition of supporting veterans, their charity selected for this occasion is the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Tennessee and the Auxiliary Family Relief Fund. These associations support the families of deployed troops of the Tennessee National Guard. Diamond Jaxx coaches, players and mascot will wear patriotic jerseys during the game, and the Elks will be sponsoring a “Shirt Off Our Backs” jersey auction, a silent auction that runs through the seventh inning of the game. Participants will take off their jerseys at the end of the game and Jaxx staff will hand deliver the jerseys to the winning bidders. There will be musical entertainment prior to the game and a fireworks display immediately following the game. | | | |
