UC Nursing and Rehabilitation Center sets new standards in long-term health care training

Union City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has renewed its mission to push customer service and customer care to the top of long-term health care by enrolling its entire caregiver staff in the Bullet Proof® Manager training series from Benchmark Leadership Training.
“Really superb care. The care you would want for the elders in your family, comes from individual caregivers,” said Heather Giles, administrator of Union City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
“For that reason, Union City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has pushed its service and leadership training to the caregivers themselves.”
She added that the caregivers at the center have great skills and loving hearts and feels this training will push their efforts beyond current high levels.
“Union City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will benefit in two ways,” she said. “Not only do we create a constantly improving environment for our elders, but we also provide a super environment for our workforce. If you think about it, our workforce is our reputation and our future. These young workers will be given the skills to enhance their careers and to make an immediate positive impact on our elders’ lives.”
The Bullet Proof Manager focuses on key elements of effective management that include driving job ownership, communication, managing an intergenerational workplace and customer service.
The course also brings managers and leaders from several industries together to share best practices common to each industry.
“If you think about it, we don’t pay people for ‘what they know.’ We pay people for what they do with ‘what they know,’” said Jennifer Goodrich, president of Benchmark Leadership Training.
“Management is not a hard concept to learn. It is, however, very difficult to apply. For that reason, our course concentrates on how to bring management principles back to the workplace, not just learn them.”
