The Dixie sets performance season Posted: Wednesday, June 3, 2009 8:01 pm HUNTINGDON — The Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center, Home of the Hal Holbrook Theatre is excited to announce tickets will be available for the upcoming 2009-10 performance season on June 29 at 10 a.m. The 2009-10 performance season marks the fifth performance season for the center since its opening in November 2005. The 2009-10 performance season will officially open Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. with “QuinTango.” The magic of QuinTango’s anecdote-laced performances has turned music lovers into tango lovers, and tango lovers into QuinTango lovers. When QuinTango takes the stage, the lights dim … the pulse quickens … the tango begins. This event includes a post show reception and adult dance class. Residents may sign up for the dance class at the box office. Other shows slated for the fifth performance season include: “Carl Hurley — The Professor of Humor”; “The First 80 Years Are the Hardest — An Evening With Carol Channing”; “Ireland, Wild & Free: The David Munnelly Band” (Celtic music); “Spain Alive” (Hispanic dance); “Giselle,” presented by Nashville Ballet; “John Mueller’s tribute to Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper”; “Nutcracker,” presented by Ballet Memphis; “Holiday Hop with the Coasters, Platters and the Marvelettes”; “Christmas On Broadway”; “Romeo & Juliet”; “Nashville Symphony”; “Dee Dee Bridgewater and the music of Billie Holiday”; “Open Casket,” with Minton Sparks (spoken word artist); “Southern Fried Jazz Band”; “An Evening Serenade with Dr. Stan Warren & Lily Afshar” (tenor singer and classical guitarist); “Electric Magic: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin”; and “The Fun on the Farm Jamboree.” Call or visit The Dixie Box Office at (731) 986-2100, 191 Court Square, Huntingdon or visit www.dixiepac.net.
