Andrew P. Sternisha of Delta, Ohio, son of the Rev. Paul and Karleen Sternisha of Union City, recently graduated summa cum laude from Bowling Green (Ohio) State University with a bachelor of arts degree.
Sternisha, who graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences with a major in history, will continue his education at the University of Akron.
He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
He was also on the Dean’s List each semester of his college career at Bowling Green State University.

Several Obion County students have been awarded scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.
The scholarship recipients include:
• Adam Alexander, son of Travis and Laurie Alexander of Hornbeak, who will be a freshman. He received the UTM McWhorter Freshman Scholarship.
• Drew Greer, son of Kent and Marina Greer of South Fulton, who will be a freshman. He received the Leaders-in-Residence Award.
• Anna Marie Seratt, daughter of Charles and Wanda Seratt of South Fulton, who will be a freshman. She received the UTM McWhorter Freshman Scholarship.
• Ariel Smith, daughter of Ina Payne and Davie Smith, both of Union City, who will be a freshman. She received the Harold Conner Scholarship.

Two students from Obion County have been honored at Lipscomb University in Nashville for academic achievement during the spring semester 2009.
Derek Lewis of Union City, who is majoring in exercise science, and Clay Smith of Troy, who is majoring in law, justice and society, were both named to the honor roll.
Both students graduated from Obion County Central High School.
At the end of each semester, Lipscomb students who make perfect grades for the semester while taking at least 12 credit hours are named to the Provost’s List.
Students who achieve a grade average of 3.5 to 3.99 are named to the honor roll at Lipscomb.
