SF football parents
to meet Thursday

Parents of South Fulton High School football players will meet at the school on Thursday night at 6 in the school’s library.
The meeting will be an informative one covering the summer football schedule, player requirements, scrimmage dates and other important questions, according to Red Devils’ head coach Kelly Spivey.

OC basketball camps
slated for the summer

The Obion Central basketball program will be hosting the “Running Rebels” fundamental day camps for both boys and girls in July.
The boys’ camp is slated for July 13-17 at the OC gym with kindergarten through third grade taking part from 9 a.m. until noon each day, while fourth- through seventh-graders can participate each afternoon from 1 until 4.
The girls’ camp is scheduled for July 20-24 with age groups and times corresponding to the boys’ schedule each day.
Registration, which costs $40, will be done on-site.

20-under best mark
at Yarbrough tourney

The team of Terry Wiseman, Randy Kincade, Mason Storey and Ray Swift combined to shoot an 20-under-par and win the Cliff Yarbrough Memorial Tournament at Wynridge Greens in Troy on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the team of Johnathan Bell, Steve Williams, Steven Williams and Patrick Williams earned second place with a score of 17-under.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Avery and Alex Ritter Scholarship Fund.

UTM baseball team
has All-OVC trio

UT Martin seniors Mark and Miles Hartsfield and Scott Gladstone were named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference baseball team.
The first and second team honorees were voted on by league head coaches and sports information directors and were awarded along with a host of other postseason honors.
Mark Hartsfield played third base for the Skyhawks and hit .373 with 84 hits. He led the team with 12 home runs and 42 RBI.
Miles Hartsfield played in the outfield and hit .397 on the year with 77 hits, nine home runs and 52 RBI.
Miles also had a 32-game hitting streak this season.
He ended the year with a six-game hitting streak.
Gladstone played second base for the Skyhawks and led the team with a .420 batting average.
He had 84 hits, seven home runs and 30 RBI. Gladstone enjoyed a 31-game hitting streak this season.

Abe memorial winners
set a blistering pace

The third annual Abe Jolley Memorial Golf Tournament was played Saturday at Poplar Meadows Country Club with the winning team shooting a blistering 19-under-par 53.
The winning team included Matt Russell, Rodger Tanner, Ty Tanner and Greg Dunn.
Three teams shot 16-under par 56s, with the second place team determined in a scorecard playoff.
Finishing in second was the team of Damon Campbell, Bryan Barker, Jimmy Powell and Doug Powell.
Third place went to Ron Cooper, Dave Frankum, Amos Davis and Lynn Jenkins, with the team of Tim Shanks, Tracy Bruff, Chuck Doss and Al Oliver finishing in fourth place.
Funds raised by the tournament were donated to a Union City Rotary Scholarship fund in memory of Abe Jolley, a longtime member of Poplar Meadows Country Club.
