3 Greenville HS seniors charged in cattle slayings Posted: Friday, May 22, 2009 8:01 pm GREENEVILLE (AP) — Three Greeneville High School seniors have been charged in connection with the bow-and-arrow slayings of two cows and a calf. Greene County sheriff Steve Burns said the animals were killed earlier this month as part of a failed graduation prank in which the students planned to kill a calf and bring it to the high school. The Greeneville Sun reports the students — all 18 — kept killing farm animals in a failed attempt to find one small enough to be picked up and carried. Matthew Fugate was charged with three counts of intentional killing of an animal. Blake Hebert and Zachary Shupe were charged with being a party to the intentional killing of an animal. The sheriff said all three were taken into custody Friday morning and have been released on bond. ——— Information from: The Greeneville Sun, http://greenevillesun.com/ Published in The Messenger 5.22.09 , |
