Prison stabbing death probed Posted: Wednesday, May 20, 2009 9:02 pm The Department of Correction is investigating the homicide of an inmate at Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville. The preliminary investigation shows that inmate Maurice Teague, 27, was stabbed Friday at about 7:40 p.m. inside his cell. He was pronounced dead at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City, according to a press release from the Tennessee Department of Correction. Teague was serving a five-year sentence for a Schedule II cocaine conviction out of Carroll County in 2007. The stabbing remains under investigation by TDOC’s Internal Affairs Division.
