UTM baseball duo
honored by OVC

UT Martin baseball players Wes Patterson and Coty Green were honored Monday by the Ohio Valley Conference.
Patterson, a sophomore first baseman from Memphis, was named the league’s Player of the Week, while Green, a junior right-hander was named the conference’s Co-Pitcher of the Week.
The two players were honored for their efforts last week against Belmont and Jacksonville State. The Skyhawks dropped the non-conference doubleheader against host Belmont but closed out the 2009 season by sweeping the three-game series from host Jacksonville State.
In five games this past week, Patterson hit .632 (12-for-19) with six runs scored, two home runs and seven RBI. Patterson hit safely in every game last week and scored a run in four of five contests.
Green tossed his fourth complete game of the season and picked up his fifth win of the year on Friday at Jacksonville State.

High school All-Stars
to play on Jaxx turf

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx are slated to host the second annual West Tennessee High School All-Star Game on June 9 with a 6:05 start time. The event will follow the Diamond Jaxx 12:05 game against the Huntsville Stars at Pringles Park.
It will be a nine-inning game featuring 40 outstanding seniors from West Tennessee. Coaching one team will be Lambuth University baseball coach John Barlow and the other team will be headed by Union University baseball coach Brent Fronabarger.
The Diamond Jaxx encourage all head coaches of high school baseball teams in West Tennessee to get their nominations in by Friday.

Mayfield Country Club
to host men’s tourney

The Mayfield-Graves Cou-nty Country Club will host the Men’s West Kentucky Amateur Golf Touranment on June 13 and 14.
The tournament is open to all men amateur golfers. The field will be limited to the first 180 paid entries.
The tournament will be held over the course of the two days with the flights of competition determined by the first day’s scores.
Entry fee is $100 per player and must be received by June 6. Carts are available for rental for $20 per day. There is no charge for a player to use his own golf cart.
