Letitia Carpenter of Collierville was crowned Mrs. Tennessee America 2009 Saturday evening in Jackson.
Mrs. Carpenter will represent the married women of Tennessee in the 2010 Mrs. America Pageant in September. The Mrs. Tennessee America Pageant is the official state preliminary to the Mrs. America Pageant, the only nationally televised pageant for married women.
She is married to Jeromy Carpenter. They reside in Collierville. They have one child, Colt, who is 15 months old. She is the owner of Classic Image Studio in Collierville and is a cosmetologist.
To qualify, contestants must have been at least 18 years of age, married, a resident of Tennessee for at least six months (residency at a military base was acceptable) and of good moral character. Contestants were judged in four categories, including personal interview, beauty, swimsuit and evening gown, each worth 25 percent of her total score. Sixteen ladies competed for the title.
Her court included first runner-up, Mary-Marsha Riley, Mrs. Shelby County; second runner-up, Shannon Ivie, Mrs. Music City; third runner-up, Hope Conner, Mrs. Hamilton County; and fourth runner-up, Amanda Uggla, Mrs. Cool Springs.
