A Union City man has been charged with an alleged violation of a city ordinance for junk motor vehicles.

David Phillip Moffatt, 47, of 1524 East Main St., Union City, was charged Monday evening with violation of the city ordinance regarding junked and certain other motor vehicles and accessories and junk yards, according to a Union City Police Department report.

He was served with a criminal summons at 7:22 p.m. at his home, with his court appearance scheduled for May 18 at 4 p.m. in Union City Municipal Court. The complaint was levied by Union City Planning and Code Enforcement.

According to the summons, Moffatt is charged with “storing junk vehicles, parts and accessories, scrap metal and other accumulated junk” in his yard on East Main Street.

Junkyards are only allowed in the heavy industrial zone, the summons noted.
