Who’s minding the store?

Judges 2:8-10 states, “Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of 110. They buried him in the land he had been allocated …. After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things He had done for Israel.” NLT
Living in a culture where everything that is holy and righteous is open to verbal and legislative and judicial attack, while on the other hand leadership that is void of integrity and honesty is rewarded with million dollar compensation, one has to ask the question, “Who’s been minding the store?”
It seems a generation has risen up who does not acknowledge the Lord or the mighty things He has done for our nation. “In God We Trust” seems to be a faded memory.
As you read on in the story of Judges, you will find that God raised up a man named Othniel. Scripture says the Spirit of the Lord came upon him and he lead Israel to 40 years of victory. Just one man with the Spirit of the Lord upon him.
Last week I was so proud of one such Christian named Carrie Prejean, better known as “Miss California,” who stood for what she believed, even though she knew it would cost her the Miss USA crown. That’s Othniel’s generation at its finest.
Can you imagine what would happen if a whole group of believers purposed in their minds to be empowered by the Spirit of the Lord for greatness? It would literally shake our nation.
It is imperative that we take care of the business of passing along the rich Godly heritage that we have of faith in Christ and empowerment by the Spirit of the Lord. As Zechariah said, “It’s not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.” KJV
