County meeting set

The Obion County Budget Committee will meet 9 a.m. Monday in the basement conference room at the Obion County Courthouse.
Items on the agenda will include the approval of minutes from the Budget Committee meeting April 6; a report concerning delinquent property taxes; a report from the Finance Committee concerning funding for the Career Technology Center; a request from the Industrial Development Board for tax abatement for Williams Sausage Co.; information concerning the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee as it relates to the Industrial Development Board; a request for a line item transfer for the sheriff’s department; approval for the release of the 2007 property taxes; resolutions concerning participation in the Three-Star Program, affirming compliance with the Federal Title VI regulations, adopting the Strategic Economic Development Plan, approving the property tax exemption for nonprofit organizations for construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing, adopting a continuing budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2009-10 and authorizing an application for a litter and trash collecting grant; a financial report for the Indigent Care Trust Fund; action to fill the vacancy of General Sessions Judge, created by the resignation of Judge Raymond Morris (effective July 1, 2009); and an appointment to the Civil Service Board to replace Mike George.
All members are urged to attend, a spokesman said.
