A local man sustained possible injury when he was struck by a vehicle Sunday morning on East Bransford Street in Union City.

Robert L. Hopgood, 68, of 610 South Third St., Union City, was taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City following an accident that occurred about 11:05 a.m. Sunday, according to a Union City Police Department report.

Police reported Felicia Ann Warmath, 44, of 201 North Jackson St., Newbern, was backing out of a private parking lot in a 1992 GMC postal truck owned by the U.S. Post Office in Union City and Hopgood was walking north on the lot at 221 East Bransford St.

Ms. Warmath told police she saw the pedestrian walking and continued to back out of the lot. Hopgood apparently walked behind the vehicle and the vehicle’s rear bumper struck him.

Ms. Warmath said she stopped, got out and found the pedestrian behind the vehicle.

No citations were issued, according to the police report.
