Obion County Public Library has been selected as a Library Services and Technology Act grant recipient for the 2009-10 grant cycle. Federal funds through the LSTA have been approved in the amount of $7500. These funds will provide library programming for job seekers on subjects such as resume writing, job searching, online job application, interviewing skills, scholarships and college funding, and much more. Additionally, the library will purchase a designated computer workstation for skill building, tutorials and resume preparation.
The Friends of Obion County Public Library have also approved $3,100 for furnishings for the Job Center area of the library. Three study carrels and three study chairs will furnish the area, which will be located to the right of the Tennessee Room behind the Reference Desk. The work station will provide software for resume writing, access to skill-building tutorials and shelf space for newly-acquired books, CDs and DVDs pertaining to job searching, career development, resume writing and related subjects.
Schedules for upcoming programs for job seekers will be published in June 2009. The Job Center workstation will be available for use by July 1.
