Local men face rape charges
Two Martin men face felony charges for their alleged sexual involvement with children. Jimmy Carl Pierce of Martin was arrested earlier this month after interviews with an alleged victim revealed Pierce had sexually assaulted the child. According to an affidavit of complaint, sometime during the month of October or November, Pierce had inappropriate sexual involving a digital penetration with an 11-year-old female. Weakley County Sheriff’s Inv. Candace Winstead said Pierce faces a Class A felony charge of rape of a child because the alleged victim is under the age of 13. Pierce is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Weakley County Detention Center. His next court date is set for this Wednesday in general sessions court. In an unrelated case, a 41-year-old man of Martin faces an accusation of sexual battery for having sexual contact with a 15-year-old female. Terry Gross of Hawks Road was charged with sexual battery after he reportedly admitted to sexually assaulting a 15 year old. An affidavit cites the incidents occurred at least five times in his home during the last 12 months. Gross appeared in court Dec. 17, when his case was bound over the January term of the Weakley County Grand Jury. He is out of jail on a $25,000 bond.
