Hit and run leads to woman’s arrest
A Martin woman faces numerous charges after she reportedly attempted to run down a man with her vehicle and within an hour, fled the scene after she allegedly rear-ended another car. Tracy Scott, 40, of Martin was taken into custody Friday, Dec. 19 when officers linked her vehicle to a hit and run accident as well as an aggravated assault incident. A report taken at 10:30 that morning showed Scott’s vehicle was seen at East Side Cemetery on K Street in Martin. According to the report, victim Larry Houston was walking in the cemetery when he noticed a car driven by Scott was driving off of the pavement onto grass and almost hit him. Houston also stated in the report that the actions of Scott placed him in fear for his life. He was able to get a tag number from the white Dodge Neon driven by Scott. Shortly after 11 a.m. that day, officers were called to the scene of a hit and run accident at the corner of Todd and McGill streets. The victim stated in the report that while she was stopped at the intersection, another vehicle rear-ended her and left the scene. Another witness confirmed the victim’s story and was able to take the tag number of the vehicle leaving the scene of the accident. Officers matched the tag number to a vehicle driven by Scott. According to the report, when Scott was placed into custody she admitted to officers that she had left the scene of the accident. Scott faces charges of aggravated assault for the first incident that day as well as leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a revoked license and driving without insurance.
