The Martin Police Department will be conducting a Holiday Traffic Enforcement Checkpoints. These checkpoints will be conducted from 2-3 a.m., Jan. 1, and from 2-3 a.m., Jan. 3. The statewide campaign for this time of the year is “Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest.” The Martin Police Department along with the Governors Highway Safety Office, and all agencies across the state will have stepped up enforcement for the entire holiday season, especially New Year. The number of deaths on Tennessee’s highways last year as of this time was 1186. This year the number has been reduced to 971 deaths. Please, buckle up, don’t drink and drive. Help make Tennessee’s and Martin’s roads safer. wcp 12-30-08
