The Messenger. 12.29.08 Mozelle (Calhoun) Brinkley, 83, of Union City died Dec. 26, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City. Services were set for 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2 near Rives, with the Revs. Jerry Leggett, Jimmy Brown and Mickey Hanks officiating. Burial was to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were to be Bobby Lafever, Bobby Calhoun, Joe Hill, Don Gray, Claude Cranford Jr. and Lynn Treece. Honorary pallbearers were to be members of Faithful Followers Sunday School Class at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. White-Ranson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The family requests memorials be made to Cobbs Chapel Cemetery Association, in care of Mayme Denton, 3623 West Main St., Union City, TN 38261 or the charity of the donor’s choice. She was born July 17, 1925, in Obion County, daughter of the late Guy and Dee (Hickman) Calhoun. She married Lawrence Wilson Brinkley July 5, 1952. He died Dec. 18, 2008. She was a retired secretary at Union City Second Baptist Church, where she had been employed for 32 years, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2, where she taught the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class for 50 years. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Russell Hilton of Woodland Mills; her granddaughter and her husband, Laura and Terry Hughes of Paducah, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, John Robert Hughes of Paducah and Audrey Wright of Woodland Mills; her sister, Emma Lou Dickey of Garland; her brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Jimmy and Pat Calhoun of Union City; and two other sisters-in-law, Reba Brinkley of Rives and Thelma Calhoun of the Crystal community. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lisa Hilton; two sisters, Sue Cranford and Minola Gray; and her brother, Bruce Calhoun.
